Project Brief
Plan, create assets, texture and reproduce a virtual environment based on a inspired piece of media or photo.
Why Spirited Away
The Boiler Room was chosen for its extraordinary visual complexity. Pipes stretching in every direction soot sprites darting between shelves and the towering presence of Kamaji made it the perfect environment to explore immersive 3D world building.
Planning
Before a single asset was built the space was mapped out in full. Top down and isometric plans with measurements gave the environment structure and ensured the final build had a professional foundation to work from.
Asset Creation
Assets were indivually built in Blender
Using a blend of methods I was able to reproduce every asset that I had planned to create the most immersive environment.
Texturing Assets were textured within blender using mostly UV mapping with some node based materials being created for some of the more complex assets. UV textures were a mixture of premade and custom images. tinctly unique to the brand.
Environmental Lighting & Animation
The textured assets were then brought into Unreal Engine 5, where environmental lighting and custom animations and game mechanics were added
